Quicksilver is a speedy application launcher for the Mac. Of all the application launchers that I have tried for all platforms quicksilver is by far the absolute best. Speed is everything with an application launcher, and quicksilver earns its title. But quicksilver is not just your ordinary application launcher. It has hundreds of built-in and downloadable plug-ins that allow it to communicate and manipulate many different applications and file-system functions. Need to rename a file? No problem, just touch the activation key, type in the name of the file, then tab, then type rename and rename the file. You can do similar file functions as well: copy, move, paste. And it doesn't just end there, you can perform a myriad other functions, from ftping a file to your website, to emailing a file to a coworker, queueing an album in iTunes, and even posting your status on twitter. Because quicksilver is open source it can be adapted, manipulated, and extended beyond belief. There is a special developer's page on how you can even write your own plugin.
